Meet Sarah

Howdy, friends! I’m Sarah, the human behind the big ol’ camera.

I’ve spent my whole life scheming up ways to be around horses. From the classics—like mucking stalls in exchange for rides or volunteering to exercise someone else’s horse—to the more creative (hello, Craigslist adventures…yes, plural). I’ve even traded graphic design and photography work for lessons. The point is: just like you, horses are my heart, and I’ll always find a way to be near them.

The other constant in my life has been art. Whether covered in paint or hidden away in the darkroom developing film, I’ve always been chasing creative expression. I studied fine art in college, and photography quickly became one of my favorite ways to tell stories.

So when I announced I was starting an equine photography business, no one was too surprised. It's the perfect intersection of my two greatest loves. So here we are! I can’t wait to meet you and capture the unique bond you share with your horse.

What the heck is a Moon Horse?

The love of my life is a black mare named Luna—my very first horse, and the culmination of a lifetime of dreaming and hard work. The name Moon Horse is an homage to her. In many languages, "luna" means "moon." Hence Moon Horse Media.

Like all horses, Luna is beautiful. She’s also wonderfully quirky and curious. I often joke that she was the personality hire. That light spirit is at the heart of everything I do and create. To me, creativity is not only about pushing limits, but also about exploring freely, and always leaving room for play.

The Creative Process

Every session with Moon Horse Media is designed to capture stunning, timeless images while keeping the experience positive for both you and your horse. Unsure about stepping in front of the camera? I’ve got you! I’ll guide you with gentle posing, tips, and encouragement to help you feel relaxed and confident. I’ll also work patiently with your horse, gaining their focus and attention without ever stressing them out. Sessions are kept short and sweet. I keep them efficient, enjoyable, and full of those authentic moments that make your portraits truly unforgettable.
